About Nurse Bonnie
Bonnie has been a nurse for over 60 years, graduating from nursing school in southern California. Her extensive hospital experience includes pediatrics, medical-surgical, nursery, burn unit, children and teens psychiatric unit, and Neuro-intensive care, with additional experience in Hospice, family physician's offices, University Student Health center and infirmary, public health, and community mental health.
Always interested in alternative medical therapies, she began her journey into holistic nursing in 1992, when she first began a certification program in Healing Touch. This eventually led her to the certification program in Holistic Nursing, which was to forever change her nursing career. Aside from all the disciplines she was required to explore, experience, research and write papers on, she was also introduced to multiple alternative therapies, including Rayid iridology, toning and sound therapy, Reiki, music therapy, aromatherapy, basic cranial sacral therapy, and other vibrational medicine techniques and technologies. The latter included the LIFE quantum technology and the SCENAR. She received extensive training in both and is a certified biofeedback technician. After fulfilling internships in both Healing Touch and Holistic Nursing, she received her certification as a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner (CHTP) in 1998 and graduated from the Holistic Nurse Program as a Board Certified Holistic Nurse (BC-HN) in 1999. Holistic Nursing is now a recognized specialty by the American Nurses Association of the United States.
As a Holistic Nurse, patient complaints, symptoms and their medical diagnoses of disease were no longer the main focus of practice, but rather the whole person as a unique individual comprised of body, mind (emotion) and spirit. It is always this whole unique individual that is being challenged by their health issue, not just their physical body. And their process of healing includes their personal interconnectedness to themselves, loved ones, friends, spirituality, work, cultural ethnicity, and their environment. So in 2000, Bonnie relinquished her participation in allopathic nursing to develop a private practice in alternative health. In working with some of the quantum health assessment and balancing technologies, she began to see repetitive patterns of health challenges in her clients. These revolved around digestive deficiencies and the resulting cascade of distressful, and often chronic symptoms, which left untreated, would eventually lead to disease, or had already done so. Searching for the missing component in most alternative health treatments led her to The Loomis Food Institute and the Loomis School of Digestive Health and the Clinical Use of Enzyme therapy. . Dr. Howard Loomis, Jr. is the national leading authority, researcher and developer of Enzyme Replacement Therapy. Because the entire body and all its systems are run on enzymes and their specific activity, and since digestion and its related issues are the # 1 health issue in America, it was here she found the answer that would pinpoint the source of stress in her clients that was causing their health challenges and gave Bonnie the tools to address them. Once the underlying, and often subclinical, health deficits were identified and supported correctly, clients bodies could begin to heal themselves.
After extensive schooling, she graduated as a certified Digestive Health Professional and Clinical Enzyme Therapist, and is an advanced practitioner. From 2000 to 2020, she had her own practice where she was proud to present a health program to her clients that was individually based on each persons specific health challenges. These were identified through very specific and scientific means not available to other naturopathic practitioners and physicians. Because this Loomis evaluation and testing was able to identify health issues at a subclinical level, she was able to help many clients to actively restore their health before any disease process took over.
Because of her interest in researching and sharing as much knowledge as possible regarding health and healing, she wrote holistic health articles for the BOOMERS and BEYOND NEWSPAPER while living in Southern Colorado, in the Pagosa Springs, Durango area. She was also privileged to write an extensive article on Enzyme Therapy for the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF HOLISTIC NURSING.
Retired now and living in North Dakota, she continues to research new and upcoming alternative measures for health and healing, while continuing to consult with family, friends and those referred to her for help. Having always wished to publish a short booklet entitled THE HANDY HANDBOOK OF HOLISTIC HINTS that would be easy to read and understood by the lay person, she is finding this website to be the next best option.
Blessings of Health and Healing to you,
Nurse Bonnie
